  •  Corona Virus | What it is? How dangerous it is?

Introduction: Coronavirus, a trivial kind of virus that is the root of viral infection in the nose, may cause sinuses, or in the upper throat. Largely, the coronaviruses are not that dangerous but some kinds of coronaviruses are quite severe. Approximately, 858 people died due to MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) that appeared in 2012 in Saudi Arabia and then it moved towards the other countries of the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and even Europe. Two cases of coronavirus were found in 2014 in Europe, it was figured out that those two people recently traveled back from Saudi Arabia.

After this, the Coronavirus ambushed the lands of Korea and it was one of the great epidemics ever recorded in history. According to history, in 2003 around 700 people died due to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). And right now, China is suffering from this great medical epidemic of Coronavirus. The total number of confirmed cases in China is now at least 7,711, most of them in Hubei province where the virus originated. At least 170 people have died from the virus, all in China. World Health Organization identified this coronavirus of China as nCoV officially known as Novel Coronavirus

What is Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses date back their origin to the 1960s but the cause is still unknown. Corona means Crown, and that’s where this name was generated. Coronavirus can affect both, Humans and Animals. Coronaviruses spread in the following mentioned ways:
  • Through infected people coughing and sneezing
  • By touching an infected person's hands or face
  • By touching things such as doorknobs that infected people have touched
According to the World’s Fact and Figures, almost every person around the Globe gets infected by Coronavirus once in their life, mostly in their childhood.

Symptoms of this viral infection? (Current nCoV)

Symptoms of this viral infection, coronavirus is almost similar to those of any respiratory infection, these includes:

• Runny Nose
• Coughing
• Sore Throat
• Headache
• Sometimes even a fever

Is the coronavirus contagious?

It’s highly important to observe that the contagiousness of these viruses varies. Some of the viruses are highly contagious just like this nCoV of 2019. Although the researches are still being done by CDC on nCoV yet it is considered that the virus is spreading with quite a pace with its origin from a snake, but now it's being transmitted from person-to-person.

Prevention from Coronavirus:

There is currently no vaccine to prevent 2019-nCoV infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
There is no specific antiviral treatment recommended for 2019-nCoV infection. People infected with 2019-nCoV should receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms. For severe cases, treatment should include care to support vital organ functions. People who think they may have been exposed to 2019-nCoV should contact your healthcare provider immediately.

6,000 passengers held on Costa cruise ship in Italy:

According to the latest news, around 6000 people are being held on a cruise
ship in Italy because a female and her husband are being tested for the Wuhan Coronavirus. A person from that cruise ship has told ANSA that a 54-year-old lady and her husband are being tested for nCoV because the lady was suffering from fever.

The Italian news agency ANSA and public broadcaster RAI reported that the woman and her husband were from Hong Kong and were being kept separately in solitary confinement in the hospital section of the Costa Smeralda cruise liner. The couple will be held until the couple both test negative to the virus.

Russia Closed their Border with China:

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order to close his country's far-east border with China, state media reports, in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus. "An order has been signed today (1/30/2020); it is in the works. Today we will inform everyone accordingly about the relevant measures to close the border in the Far Eastern region and other measures that have been taken by the government," Mishustin said, RIA reports.

Russia’s Far Eastern Federal District shares a land border with China, Mongolia, and North Korea. It comes after several Russian tour operators and charter flight companies suspended flights to China. Russia will also limit its railway service with China from Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said on Wednesday, TASS reported. “Trains will only follow the route Moscow Beijing and Beijing-Moscow," she said.

Airlines are being suspended:
Israel’s El Al Airlines said it was suspending flights along its Beijing route from today until March 25. It will continue its flights to and from Hong Kong. The Israeli carrier joins several others halting flights to mainland China as the number of coronavirus cases in the country rises significantly each day.
